RECYCLING FUND RAISER—PLEASE SAVE FOR FUTURE REFERENCE ~ BAMS (Brattleboro Area Middle School) is working with an organization to recycle used electronic equipment. This will be a win-win initiative. The environment will benefit and BAMS will benefit in earning funds to support school field trips. We are the only school in the area participating in such a fund raiser, to our knowledge, and we would welcome your support.
The company, Recycling Fundraiser (formerly EcoPhones) was founded in 2001 and has been in business continuously since that time. Recycling Fundraiser prides itself in being an environmentally responsible company; they have made it their policy to be a zero landfill, zero incinerator company which does not participate in exporting hazardous e-waste to developing countries.
Approximately 90% of the items this company receives are refurbished and resold. The majority of the items end up on eBay where they are sold to persons who cannot afford to pay the price of a new item, or someone who doesn't want to pay the price of a new item.~ These items are only sent to addresses within the United States.
Of the remaining 10% of the items received, they are older items or damaged items that cannot be repaired or resold.~ The majority of these items are sent to a processing plant in Texas who is ISO~9000 and ISO 14001 certified following EPA guidelines.~ They are also BAN (Basel Action Network) certified as an E-Steward.
