GUILFORD HISTORICAL SOCIETY is planning its annual July 4th celebration. For folks in town, who perhaps don’t know about this event, we’d like to encourage children and adults of all ages to participate in the little parade, which starts at the school at 4:00 P.M. (be there at 3:30 P.M.) and ends at Broad Brook Grange. Decorated or plain bikes, wagons, etc. would be a great addition to the parade, or just walk; costumes are a nice touch. For more information, watch for newspaper and poster publicity, or call 257-0004 or 257-7306.
Staff Appreciation Breakfast: Tuesday, June 24. Looking for help and breakfast items. If you could offer either of the above - call Diane 254-2455.

Venture Vermont 2008
Outdoor CHALLENGE
In the spirit of spreading the No Child Left Inside message, VT State Parks and VT Departments of Health, Environmental Conservation and Fish & Wildlife have a fun, new program we are rolling out across the state.
“Venture Vermont” is a statewide, outside scavenger hunt They have created to entice kids and their families outside this summer. Participants just have to download a score sheet from our website www.vtstateparks.com , venture around the state, participate in a variety of fun outdoor activities for which they receive points. Once they accumulate a certain number of points, they are awarded a free pass to state park day use areas for this year and next. It’s simple, inexpensive and fun.
They will be posting links on www.vermont.gov, www.vermontvacation.com, and the Governor’s website. They hope to have Gov. Douglas kick off the program at an announcement in one of the parks this weekend during Vermont Days.
They are also going to be promoting the program on June 18th at State Parks night at the Lake Monsters ballpark. We invite you and your organization to come and set up a table to spread the word about your program, just give me a call if you are interested.
