SPECIAL SCHOOL BOARD MEETING on Monday, January 12

January is budget time for Vermont school boards. By mid-month, school boards are required to finalize the proposed budget that residents approve or not at Town Meeting.

On Monday, January 12 the Guilford school board will hold a special meeting to discuss the proposed budget. The main topic for discussion on Monday is the staffing for next year's 1st Grade. Given the large number of children in this year's Kindergarten, decisions need to be made regarding whether or not to have two First Grades in 2009-10 or continue with one large class. The meeting begins at 6:30 PM in the school library and the public is encouraged to attend.

Over the holiday recess we learned that Priscilla McKinley, a long time Guilford resident and former paraeducator at GCS had passed way. Priscilla was a woman with a huge heart and love for the students of Guilford Central School. Her passion and care for kids was unsurpassed. In her honor we will be planting a memorial tree for Priscilla in the spring. As we get closer to spring, we'll communicate the date and time when we will gather to honor Priscilla's service to the town's children. In the meantime, you may visit a memorial website for Priscilla at http://memorialwebsites.legacy.com/priscilla-mckinley/homepage.aspx
