Service Learning Partnership Advisory Board

OUR MISSION:

The Guilford Partnership is a school and commmunity partnership. Our mission lies in breaking down the distinctions and barriers between school and community. We will support programs that build and sustain a learning and growing community.

The Guilford Partnership Advisory Board was established in 1994 to support development of service learning activities in Guilford Town and to serve as an advisory board. The Service Learning Program at Guilford School. The Partnership Board has worked over the last four years to provide long term support for service learning activities and programs at the school and in Guilford Town.

Service Learning at Guilford School

Since 1993 we have worked closely with Vermont's Department of Education, VISMT and others to expand the use of service-learning as an educational strategy with our own school, and in other Vermont schools and communities. Guilford School teachers and community members have shared their work and strategies at state and regional gatherings. Guilford School has been recognized nationally as a leader in service-learning and received the 1995 Northeast Regional Drug Free Schools Innovative Prevention Program Award. GCS teachers conducts service-learning related workshops and presentations for educators and communities in Vermont and elsewhere.

Partnership Board Structure

The Guilford Partnership Advisory Board is comprised of GCS teachers, students, school administration, community members and representatives of local business and non-profit organizations. The Board operates with a coherent structure that includes a written set of bylaws and active committees.

Full Advisory Board meets each month, year round w/two-year membership terms for Board members
